Low Res, short for Low Resolution, is designed to be a step away from the increasingly detailed screens that exist in our lives. It consists of 150 individually-addressable cubes which can be dimmed and lit in full RGBW color. The cubes are spaced twenty centimeters apart, allowing for a semblance of large patterns or images to be portrayed when viewed from a distance, but nothing with sharp detail.
The piece can function both in the background as a unique lighting solution for rooms or spaces or as a more direct art piece at the center of attention. It is designed modularly in grids of one meter by one meter, allowing for many different arrangements of the pieces to fit the current space.
Driven by a custom driver PCB, Low Res can be set up to output a default color or pattern on boot, or be actively controlled by an external device. Control devices can connect over wifi or ethernet to control pre-built patterns and colors, or address each individual cube directly over Art-Net.
